The project

Designed for its setting, use and architecture.

An artist’s sketch, model or intention often has to be translated into a stable, transportable and installable object without losing its character. Our role is to make that transition with care.

F. Labbé has a long history of working with artists linked to the École de Nice and continues to support contemporary commissions, from detailed objects to large-scale outdoor works.

What we resolve

The decisions that define the finished work.

Respect for the original idea

Technical decisions are developed around the artist’s form, surface and intended perception.

Fabrication development

Sections, joints, internal support and finish are resolved without unnecessarily changing the work.

Large-scale capability

Transport, lifting, foundations and assembly are planned for substantial or complex pieces.

Close collaboration

Samples, prototypes and workshop discussions support decisions that cannot be captured by drawings alone.

Applications

For private, professional and public projects.

Design and installation are adapted to the building, its users and the site conditions recorded during the survey.

Sculpture and public art

Artist-designed architectural elements

Gallery and exhibition pieces

Restoration or adaptation of metal artworks

Our involvement

From site survey to final handover.

Site information feeds into the fabrication drawings, then stays with the workshop and installation team.

  1. Dialogue and documentation

We study the drawings, model, materials, surface and intended setting with the artist or project team.

  2. Technical translation

Hidden structure, joints, stability, transport and installation are developed.

  3. Fabrication with reviews

The work is made in the workshop with agreed samples and review stages.

  4. Transport and installation

Handling, assembly, anchoring and final adjustments are organised for the site.

Frequently asked questions

Useful points before an initial assessment.

Do you work directly with artists?+

Yes. Direct dialogue is often essential to preserve the intention while resolving fabrication and installation.

Can you fabricate from a maquette?+

Yes. A model can be measured and developed into workshop information, with structural and material decisions agreed along the way.

Do you install large outdoor works?+

Yes, where the project is suited to our capabilities. Foundations, lifting, transport and site assembly are planned with the relevant specialists.
