The beginnings

F. Labbé began with the curiosity of a metalworker who never saw metal as a static material.

François Labbé founded the company in Nice in 1979. He was a metalworker, fabricator, entrepreneur, inventor and art lover, equally interested in the discipline of a building detail and the freedom of an artist’s sketch.

That breadth still shapes the workshop: traditional forged work sits alongside precise architectural fabrication, large moving structures and mechanics developed for steep or constrained sites.

Art & invention

Making difficult ideas buildable without flattening their character.

François Labbé and his workshop contributed to the fabrication of works by artists including Bernar Venet, Sacha Sosno and Masaki Fujihata, in the wider context of the École de Nice and the Nouveaux Réalistes.

A new chapter

The company continued by passing on knowledge, responsibility and a taste for unusual projects.

The name F. Labbé remains attached to a way of working: understand the project, resolve it honestly, make it carefully and stand behind the installation.

Today’s team combines workshop experience with design development and site coordination. The company remains deliberately close to its projects and to the people commissioning them.
